Collection of shadows aims at being a mature and straightforward album that is brutally nostalgic in its own way. It is rooted in Leopardi’s nihilism and Pascoli’s melancholic darkness. Reaching beyond the experimental asperities and smokescreens of Pale and sick, European Ghost are discarding their gas mask with a baring album, acutely aware of a bitter adulthood. A collection of shadows is the account of our existence, of being left with nothing. It is the sardonic account that revolves around the ineffability of life as made of faded dreams and broken chimeras. The need for poetic realism opens up European Ghost to wider and gentler sounds, preserving however the martial rhythms of their first album – to dance “with tears in my eyes”.

Collection of shadows vuole essere un album maturo e diretto, a suo modo spietatamente malinconico. Affonda le sue radici nel nichilismo leopardiano e l'umbratilita' pascoliana. Oltrepassate le asperità sperimentali e le cortine fumogene di "pale and sick", gli European Ghost gettano la maschera antigas con un album nudo, nutrito di un'amara consapevolezza sull'eta' adulta. Una collezione di ombre diventa il bilancio esistenziale, un pugno di mosche, il beffardo bilancio che ruota intorno all' ineffabilità della vita terrena, fatta di sogni sbiaditi e chimere infrante. L'esigenza di realismo lirico apre le sonorità degli European Ghost verso sonorità e vocalità più dolci e vaste, non rinunciando però alla marzialità elettrica del primo album. Per ballare "with tears in my eyes".
